Integration of TipNovusMini with M1PRO robotic arm
With this integration, EYOWN TECHNOLOGIES offers an advanced solution for tip reuse, optimizing resources and providing a significant ecological improvement in laboratory processes, ensuring an efficient process free of human error.
- Integration modules
- Features
- System Advantages
- M1PRO robotic arm: This is a high-precision robotic arm responsible for the automated handling of tip racks. The M1PRO loads and unloads the racks in the TipNovusMini tip washing position.
- TipNovusMini tip washer: This is a device specialized in tip washing, ensuring thorough cleaning and rapid drying of the racks, using advanced technology to remove contaminants and maintain the quality of the tips for reuse.
- eYIS (eYown Integrated Systems): This is a customized application, designed and implemented by EYOWN TECHNOLOGIES, which is capable of orchestrating the entire system workflow, integrating the M1PRO robotic arm with the TipNovusMini tip washer.
- Full control over the feeding, washing, and drying process of the tip racks.
- Automated management of up to 9 tip racks per cycle, optimizing time and resources.
- Customized, easy-to-use interface with a process window that provides real-time information on the status of each cycle.
- Display and monitoring of all process parameters, allowing for quick adjustments and efficient system management.
- Waste reduction: Minimizes the use of disposable tips, contributing to environmental sustainability.
- Time savings: The automated process eliminates the need for human intervention, reducing work time and increasing efficiency.
- Improved safety and ergonomics: Prevents exposure to risks associated with repetitive movements, protecting the health of operators.
- Consistency and reliability: Ensures a repeatable, error-free process, improving the quality of tip washing and drying.
Automated seeding and dilution of microbial colonies in Petri dishes
This innovative system allows automatic seeding without human intervention of up to 150 9mm Petri dishes using up to 24 different samples, allowing for any type of prior intermediate dilution of the samples.
- Modules
- Advantages
TECAN FreedomEvo sample preparation robot equipped with two arms:
- 8-channel pipetting arm (LiHa8)
- Manipulator arm for labware movement (RoMa)
PetriPlater: Automatic rotation and longitudinal displacement device for Petri dishes, allowing the speed of each movement to be changed. This translates into the possibility of performing different types of plating: streak, spiral at different speeds, and multi-segment.
eYSeed: Custom application designed and implemented by EYOWN TECHNOLOGIES for the integration of the pipettor and the plater, allowing:
- Plating different dilutions for each sample in a variable number of Petri dishes
- Start seeding in any Petri dish in the hotel
- Pre-select the type of seeding (Uniform, Spiral, Streak, etc.)
- Mix the sample before dilution
This integration allows the system to operate autonomously during the automatic seeding of up to 150 Petri dishes in approximately 5 hours.
The advantages of this system over the manual process are:
- Savings of more than one day’s work for two people
- Uniformity and repeatability in sowing, which avoids re-sowing due to errors
- Prevention of joint injuries due to repetitive movements over long periods of time (use of the pipette and sowing handle)

This automated system allows the selection, chopping, and dispensing of all existing microbial diversity onto growth plates in an unlimited number of Petri dishes for subsequent differential growth, with the aim of later evaluation in any screening test.
By customizing the differential factor in the various visual parameters (size, circularity, brightness, saturation, color, isolated or joint growth) for each process, the system is able to classify the colonies into clusters and select only one or several copies of the different colonies, memorizing those selected on one plate so as not to do so on the following ones.
TECAN FreedomEvo sample preparation robot equipped with two arms:
- 8-channel pipetting arm (LiHa8)
- Manipulator arm for moving labware (RoMa)
Pickolo & Divers Pick system (SCIROBOTICS): Device consisting of a high-resolution camera and a device with basal and peripheral lighting to obtain different images of each plate, in order to taxonomically differentiate colonies by their morphology.
eYPick: Application developed by EYOWN for the integration of all system components, including a barcode reader to ensure the traceability of plates and selected colonies.
- Automated colony picking: Picks 8 at a time with the option to customize the number of picks per colony and the position.
- Morphological classification: Divides the colonies on all Petri dishes to be picked into groups according to their morphology, then picks only one or more samples that are different.
- Intuitive interface: Classifies colonies of the same type or morphology into circles of different colors for easy identification.
- Workflow optimization: Reduces time and human error in sample handling.
This integration allows the system to operate autonomously during the automatic inoculation of up to 150 Petri dishes in approximately 8 hours. The advantages of this system over the manual process are:
Savings of more than a week’s worth of work for one person, as this process was previously carried out by observing the colonies under a magnifying glass and inoculating manually with toothpicks.
Uniformity and repeatability in the chopping and subsequent growth of the microorganism, as the amount of inoculum is always the same.
Avoids eye strain due to the time spent observing the colonies under a magnifying glass for subsequent manual chopping.
This tool represents an efficient solution for microbiology laboratories, guaranteeing reproducible results and improving productivity in the selection of microbial colonies for growth and subsequent analysis.
